On November 21, 2010, a grenade landed beside Kyle Carpenter and fellow Marine Nicholas Eufrazio on a rooftop in Afghanistan. Carpenter moved toward it to shield Eufrazio. He survived severe wounds. The Marine Corps’ account records the action that led to his Medal of Honor.
President Barack Obama presented Carpenter the medal on June 19, 2014. The White House’s account of the ceremony described more than two and a half years in hospital and nearly 40 operations during his recovery.
Carpenter worked with Infinity Ward and the Call of Duty Endowment on the Valor Pack, released October 23 for Modern Warfare 4. The launch announcement says he helped shape its personal references, including a grenade-shaped charm with “Nice Try” written on it. Activision identifies that as his favorite item.
The pack supports the Endowment’s work helping veterans in the United States and United Kingdom find civilian jobs. Carpenter’s story is also the subject of Forged in Valor, an official three-part video series.
What the purchase supports
The Endowment funds organizations that help unemployed and underemployed veterans in the United States and United Kingdom get civilian jobs.
그만큼 store’s donation terms promise 100% of Activision’s net proceeds from the pack, less VAT/sales tax. They do not give a fixed dollar donation for each purchase, so the $19.99 price should not be read as a $19.99 donation.
In its October 23 announcement, Activision said the Endowment had helped place more than 180,000 veterans in jobs since 2009. That is a cumulative figure reported by the publisher; it does not measure jobs funded by this new pack.
