Summary
Steele Canvas Basket Corp. marks America’s 250th anniversary with its new Icon Collection.
The eight-piece collection spans travel bags, totes, a carry basket and two signature canvas trucks in midnight-navy canvas. Only the Canvas Duffle Bag, Weekender Bag and Dopp Kit add leather accents and special-edition brass hardware.
Every piece is handcrafted to order in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with prices ranging from $48.95 to $209.95 USD.
Founded in Cambridge in 1921, Steele Canvas began making rugged canvas products for New England’s coal and textile industries. The company has now existed for 105 of America’s 250 years.
The new Icon Collection keeps those familiar designs intact. For America’s 250th, Steele brought the full lineup together in midnight-navy canvas. Leather accents and special-edition brass hardware are reserved for three pieces: the Canvas Duffle Bag, Weekender Bag and Dopp Kit.
Among the collection’s travel pieces is the Canvas Duffle Bag. Constructed from heavyweight #8 canvas, it is finished with brown leather grip handles, an adjustable shoulder strap and a brass-plated YKK zipper and pull.
The Weekender Bag also features leather grip handles, an adjustable shoulder strap and special-edition brass hardware. On the compact Dopp Kit, full-grain U.S. cattle hide is used for the tab and strap, paired with brass-plated hardware. The Medium and Small Canvas Totes use reinforced webbing handles instead.
The 3-bushel Elevated Truck raises the basket to reduce bending, the 2-bushel Small Truck rolls on non-marking casters, and the 1.5-bushel Carry Basket pairs a steel frame with Northern hardwood runners.

MADE IN USA Label Recognition
The Icon Collection earns Americana Gecko’s MADE IN USA Label Recognition for proudly placing its “MADE IN THE USA” country-of-origin mark on the exterior of every piece.
There is a quiet dignity in seeing “MADE IN USA” displayed where it can actually be seen. It tells you more than where the product was made. It points to the hands that made it, the tradition behind it and the country it came from.
In my view, that mark belongs on the outside. It should be part of the product’s identity, not hidden on an interior label that most owners will rarely notice.
The pieces look ready to be packed, rolled, carried, scuffed and lived with. Altogether, the collection has the character of something built to work, made to last and unmistakably American.
Proudly Made in Wilmington, Massachusetts
Every piece in the Icon Collection is handcrafted to order in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
The collection brings Steele Canvas’s industrial history into America’s 250th anniversary without abandoning the practical construction that made the company recognizable in the first place.
